Hartz Vitamin Care Review

We were initially hesitant to take a look at any Hartz product with their reputation for strong reactions some dogs and cats have to their products. There are countless stories of animals receiving 2nd degree burns from their flea prevention products so we were all very cautious in our handling of an ingestible from Hartz. The information from Hartz is that their vitamins are precisely formulated to deliver the nutrients your adult dog needs to support optimal health. They claim they provide a balanced source of vitamins and minerals that will compliment your pet’s diet and maintain the healthy functioning of vital body systems.

The lack of any ingredient information on their website was a red flag, but we continued to move forward by ordering the product for our review. After receiving the bottle we quickly understood why they were not willing to advertise their ingredients on their website. It may be that Hartz thinks they can rely on the notoriety of their brand to achieve sales, but word spreads quickly and at some point you would think they would have to rely more on the quality of what is behind the brand name.

Ingredients

The ingredients in this Hartz product is a bit puzzling. There is very little in this product and the use of formal names of common vitamins is always a trick used to give the impression you are getting more than you actually are. For example, when you read that there is Pyridoxine Hydrochloride in this product you would think that it is much more impressive than just saying Vitamin B6. The marketing tactics aside, they use of powdered whey is a strange choice. There are not many canine supplements which choose to use whey in them. The most common reason is that many dogs do not digest whey very well.

In the end this is a very weak daily vitamin supplement which provide only a fraction of what a dog needs to stay healthy and almost defeats the purpose of using a supplement. The use of whey will most likely upset your dog's stomach and will definitely increase the amount of gas in their system.

Overall Assessment

In the end this is a very weak daily vitamin supplement which provide only a fraction of what a dog needs to stay healthy and almost defeats the purpose of using a supplement. The use of whey will most likely upset your dog's stomach and will definitely increase the amount of gas in their system.

If you are able to get past the trust issues when using a Hartz product, then you have to look at their choice of ingredients first and the value you are getting for your dollar second. Overall, this is a very expensive supplement for what you get. There is nothing in it for skin issues, joint issues, antioxidants and it will most likely upset your dog's stomach. Not a good choice in our opinion.
